County Pumps recently installed two Hytek Alpha bio diesel pumps at Keystones Basingstoke depot, helping the company to dramatically cut their annual fuel bill. Keystone Distribution exclusively manages the complete supply chain and distribution to 1,200 McDonald’s restaurants throughout the UK.
The installation was undertaken by County Pumps, who selected the B100 bio diesel pumps along with suitable pipework, valving and stainless steel hose rewind systems approved by Hytek for use with B100.
The equipment was installed in a large free-standing cabinet offering additional security and equipment protection.
41 vehicles at Keystone’s Basingstoke distribution centre have been running on 100% bio diesel – converted from waste cooking oil from McDonald’s restaurants – for over a year. The conversion of the second fleet of 51 vehicles at the company’s Hemel Hempsteaddistribution centre is also planned.
By swapping diesel with bio fuel, Keystone estimates it will make substantial savings to costs by running the two fleets on the converted cooking oil rather than regular HGV diesel.
